Dear Monastic, lay Buddhists, and everyone<\/em>,<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
We respectfully hear that:<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cEach year, lunar July, the full Moon Day<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The filial children diligently say well-being prayers;<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Praying for parents to live long<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Instructing children and grandchildren to take refuge in peacefulness together.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Indeed, yearly, when the great Ceremony of Vu Lan \u2013 Parents\u2019 Day, the Buddha\u2019s children, despite living in different countries, spend the appropriate time going to the Temple for Dharma learning and Dharma practice, and attending the great Ceremony of Vu Lan joyfully.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
We know that VU LAN, the most important Spiritual Cultural Festival to the Buddha\u2019s disciples, includes the following events:<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The first<\/span> is to pray for the current parents to increase virtuous blessing and longevity.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The second<\/span> is to pray for those who passed away will be born up to a peaceful realm.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The third<\/span> is the effort to develop the learning and practice of the Buddha Dharma and the protection of the Three Jewels in the Vassa Vassa \u2013 Summer Retreat of lay devotees and monastic people.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The fourth<\/span> is to pray for world peace and for people to obtain joy and happiness<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
The fifth<\/span> is the Ceremony of Offering Ca-sa Kathina robes to the Sangha after completing the annual Vassa Vassa – Summer Retreat.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
\n
Through cultivating, learning, applying, and practicing the Buddha Dharma into our daily lives, we can enjoy reaping the flowers and fruits of peacefulness and happiness for ourselves and for other people right here and right now in the present life.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
