Respectfully to the Venerable Monastic Sangha,<\/span><\/em>
\nDear Lay Buddhist Followers, together with members of the Vietnamese Buddhist Family<\/em>.<\/span>
\nThe Most Venerable Elder Master Th\u00edch Tu\u1ec7 S\u1ef9, whose monastic name is Nguy\u00ean Ch\u1ee9ng, 44th generation of L\u00e2m T\u1ebf lineage, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023 at Ph\u1eadt \u00c2n Buddhist Temple in Vietnam.<\/span>
\nHe was a highly esteemed and virtuous senior monk who devoted his whole life to Vietnamese Buddhism, the nation, and education. From V\u1ea1n H\u1ea1nh University to Buddhist colleges such as H\u1ea3i \u0110\u1ee9c \u2013 Nha Trang and Qu\u1ea3ng H\u01b0\u01a1ng Gi\u00e0 Lam \u2013 Saigon, he guided and trained many generations of monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists.<\/span>
\nHe was a renowned translator of the Tripi\u1e6daka<\/em>, responsible for major works such as the Vimalak\u012brti Nirde\u015ba S\u016btra<\/em>, the \u015ar\u012bm\u0101l\u0101dev\u012b Si\u1e43han\u0101da S\u016btra<\/em>, the \u0100gamas<\/em>, the Abhidharmako\u015ba-\u015b\u0101stra<\/em>, the Vij\u00f1\u0101ptim\u0101trat\u0101-\u015b\u0101stra<\/em>, as well as the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon, which was restored in 2021.<\/span>
\nHe was a thinker, writer, poet, and a leader\u2014one who safeguarded the lifeline of the Unified Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation during challenging periods, while wholeheartedly dedicating himself to the education and guidance of younger generations through the Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Organization.<\/span>
\nTo commemorate the Most Venerable Elder Teacher of the Sangha, who devoted his entire life to the Dharma and the Nation, the Dharma Propagation Council of the Unified Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation will solemnly organize:<\/span>
