Venerable <em>Ananda<\/em> heard. What did he hear? He heard the Buddha\u2019s teachings. How did the Venerable hear them? He heard them clearly, remembered them carefully and in detail. One of the ten great monastic disciples of the Buddha, Venerable <em>Ananda<\/em>, the faithful attendant of the Buddha, could much hear, remember clearly, and absorb all the discourses fully.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">After officially becoming the attendant of the Buddha, Venerable <em>Ananda<\/em> requested the Buddha to re-preached all the discourses that the Venerable had not heard yet. The Buddha happily agreed to the requests of the Venerable <em>Ananda<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">In the first Buddhist Council, Venerable <em>Ananda<\/em>, who was responsible for reciting all the discourses, especially <em>Sutta Pitaka<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Normally, the first sentence of a <em>Sutta<\/em>, we often encounter \u201c<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>Thus have I &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the Venerable <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Ananda<\/span>\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; heard<\/strong><\/span>,\u201d in order to emphasize and confirm that the Sutta we are chanting and practicing is proclaimed and spoken out by the Buddha himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 200%;\">Today, inheriting the virtuous gratitude of Venerable Ananda and the Patriarchs, we have the good opportunity to read, chant, understand, practice, and apply the Buddha Dharma in our daily lives to benefit ourselves and other people right here and right now in the present life.<\/span><\/div>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>Confidence of accomplishment<\/strong><\/span> (<strong>\u4fe1<\/strong> <strong>\u6210<\/strong> <strong>\u5c31<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>: <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">First<\/span><\/strong>, believe deeply in Venerable Ananda, Arahant, much heard and remembered all the discourses very clearly and in detail, and recited them all after the Buddha passed away; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Second<\/strong><\/span>, with right view. right intention, and right confidence, we absolutely trust in the truths of the Buddha.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>The time of accomplishment<\/strong> <\/span>(<strong>\u6642<\/strong> <strong>\u6210<\/strong> <strong>\u5c31<\/strong><strong>): <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">The time when<\/span><\/strong> the Buddha preaches the Dharma, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">the time when<\/span><\/strong> those who listen to the Dharma, understand the Dhamma, practice the Dharma, enjoy the Dharma, apply the Dharma, propagate the Dharma, and protect the Dharma, have the ability to treat and transform suffering for the body and mind.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">All the times between the Dharma preacher and the Dharma listeners, or transmitter of the truths, illuminator of the truths and the receivers of the truths, have been fully accomplished.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>Master of Accomplishment<\/strong><\/span> <strong>(<\/strong><strong>\u4e3b<\/strong> <strong>\u6210<\/strong> <strong>\u5c31<\/strong><strong>):<\/strong> During teaching, the Buddha, the Dharma Teacher, skillfully uses his words, images of parables, metaphors, comparisons, similes, and inductive and deductive methods to help his disciples easily hear the Dharma, feel, understand, and practice the Dharma, the Truth of the Buddha deeply.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"5\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 200%;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>Place of Accomplishment<\/strong><\/span> <strong>(<\/strong><strong>\u8655<\/strong> <strong>\u6210<\/strong> <strong>\u5c31<\/strong><strong>):<\/strong> Anywhere, any place, and any country, where the Buddha and his disciples have resided and propagated the Dharma anciently as well as presently, there has never happened to any religious war, and vice versa, there they have contributed to bringing peace, harmony, reconciliation, joy, and happiness to the many right in the present life right in this world.<strong style=\"color: #555555;\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"6\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\"><strong><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Assemblies of Accomplishment<\/span> (<\/strong><strong>\u773e<\/strong> <strong>\u6210<\/strong> <strong>\u5c31<\/strong><strong>):<\/strong> This sense includes Buddhist monks, Buddhist nuns, novice monks, novice nuns, lay male devotees, lay female devotees;
