Shaving the hair and beard away,
Leaving defilements, yet with the world we stay.
Going forth to learn and practice every day,
Spreading the True Dharma along the way.
..
Upholding virtue, pure and bright,
Cultivating concentration and wisdom’s light.
Nurturing the Buddha Dharma in the heart,
Dispelling delusion, awakening to light.
..
Practicing and growing year by year,
Building the Triple Gem with purpose clear.
Applying meditation day by day,
Letting wisdom illuminate the heart’s way..

POEM FOR THE SHORT-TERM ORDINATION RETREAT
We plant good seeds along the way,
And learn the Dharma day by day.
At Vietnam’s temple, peaceful and bright,
The bell awakens hearts to light.
We gently leave worldly ties behind,
Don robes and seek a heart refined.
We welcome the Dharma, precious and true,
And nurture good seeds in all we do.
We sow the seeds of mindful care,
And let the Bodhi spirit grow with care.
Today, our wholesome roots extend,
May the Dharma spread to the world’s far end.
