BODHICITTA – THE EXTRAORDINARY ALTRUISTIC INTENTION

●◆● ════ ◆◇◆ ════ ●◆●

“We should develop the unique and extraordinary altruistic intention called Bodhicitta (literally: awakened mind), the great heart of compassion that wishes to attain unsurpassed supreme enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, and lead all sentient beings to do likewise. We should develop and practise both aspirational and practical Bodhicitta.

Recognise all beings as one’s mother, and with resolute intention, be mindful of their extraordinary kindness, wishing to repay their kindness with universal love and compassion, based on pure faith in the result of this practise.

Let us develop a mind of equanimity to overcome prejudice, compassion to overcome cruelty, love to overcome anger and empathetic joy to overcome hatred, for the benefit of all sentient beings. Om Mani Padme Hum.”
