The Grand Memorial Ceremony for the Most Venerable Elder Dharma Master Thích Tuệ Sỹ

Respectfully to the Venerable Monastic Sangha,
Dear Lay Buddhist Followers, together with members of the Vietnamese Buddhist Family.
The Most Venerable Elder Master Thích Tuệ Sỹ, whose monastic name is Nguyên Chứng, 44th generation of Lâm Tế lineage, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023 at Phật Ân Buddhist Temple in Vietnam.
He was a highly esteemed and virtuous senior monk who devoted his whole life to Vietnamese Buddhism, the nation, and education. From Vạn Hạnh University to Buddhist colleges such as Hải Đức – Nha Trang and Quảng Hương Già Lam – Saigon, he guided and trained many generations of monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists.
He was a renowned translator of the Tripiṭaka, responsible for major works such as the Vimalakīrti Nirdeśa Sūtra, the Śrīmālādevī Siṃhanāda Sūtra, the Āgamas, the Abhidharmakośa-śāstra, the Vijñāptimātratā-śāstra, as well as the Vietnamese Buddhist Canon, which was restored in 2021.
He was a thinker, writer, poet, and a leader—one who safeguarded the lifeline of the Unified Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation during challenging periods, while wholeheartedly dedicating himself to the education and guidance of younger generations through the Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Organization.
To commemorate the Most Venerable Elder Teacher of the Sangha, who devoted his entire life to the Dharma and the Nation, the Dharma Propagation Council of the Unified Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation will solemnly organize:

Conducting the memorial rites, reading the biography, and introducing the Vietnamese Tripitaka Translation Project – Śrāvaka Piṭaka, third installment.
The Organizing Committee respectfully invites the Venerable Monks and Nuns to compassionately attend and offer their spiritual support. We also cordially invite all lay Buddhist devotees, together with all Leaders and Members of the Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Family, to joyfully participate in large numbers, so that together we may commemorate, express our gratitude, and extol the noble virtues and lifelong dedication of the Great Elder who devoted his entire life to the ideal of propagating the True Dharma for the benefit of all beings.
