Poems of Vowing to Practice the Virtues of Nature

Ven. Thích Trừng Sỹ

As we know every day, our family should spend a suitable time to guide the children to learn a Dharma lesson in both English and Vietnamese very well. Teaching the Buddha’s teachings to the children when they are young, our children can easily absorb them quickly.

Please bend the bamboos while they are the bamboo shoots. When doing so, the father, mother, brother, and sister will become good educators in the family. Do not wait until the bamboos are old to bend, at that time, it is very difficult. Do it well as the Buddha had ever taught when Rahula was a child.

I wish you and your family much success in the field of your children’s education. Be intelligent to spend free and suitable time, your family consciously guides the children to learn nature lessons through poems in American and Vietnamese very well.

Idle behavior is unwholesome: When the children are free, at that time, there is no one to guide them at home, then they will roam on the internet, they are easily tempted and spoiled. Below are some fresh gifts for your children.

POEMS OF VOWING TO LEARN THE VIRTUES OF NATURE

Vow to practice the virtues of the EARTH

Embracing the numberless things

Being boundlessly tolerant and generous

Supporting this world.

Vow to practice the virtues of WATER

Drifting away troubles

Sweeping away all obstacles

 Practitioners are always at ease.

Vow to practice the virtues of FIRE

Burning away defilements,

Transforming all sorrows,

The body and mind are at peace.

Vow to practice the virtues of the WIND

Bringing the moral fragrance to fly afar

Despite an obstacle

Without stopping us at all.

Vow to practice the virtues of CLOUDS

Lightly as smoke flies

Peaceful joy is everywhere

Relaxation is right here.

Vow to practice the virtues of the RAIN

Sowing the seeds of blessing fields

Compassion with wisdom bears fruits

Making all places fresh and cool.

Vow to practice the virtues of the SUN

Insight is enlightened

Destroying the gloom of darkness

Make life beautiful and bright.

Vow to practice the virtues of the MOON

Shining all over the globe

Compassion and wisdom no matter where they are

Instilling in coolness.

Vow to practice the virtues of the STARS

Insight always shines in

The transformed affliction mind

Seeing oneself clearly.

Vow to practice the virtues of the DEW

Reminding of impermanent life

Everyone that should cultivate

Keeps full of love.

Vow to practice the virtues of SUNLIGHT

Bright wisdom is perfectly full

Destroying the gloom of darkness

Enlightened mind is bright right away.

Vow to practice the virtues of THUNDER

Tearing apart the darkness of ignorance

Insight of cultivation progresses

Attaining the fruition of enlightenment.

Vow to practice the virtues of TREES

Practicing the Dharma everyday

Blossoming and fruiting

Make the earth beautified.

Vow to practice the virtues of FLOWERS

Pervading the fragrance of moral virtue

Skillfully saying loving speech

Granting it for families.

Vow to practice the virtues of LEAVES

Coming spring is fresh, green

Arriving fall is yellow

Impermanence passes so quickly.

Vow to practice the virtues of FRUITS

The enlightened mind is full

Dedicated it to living beings

Efforts are neither full nor shallow.

Vow to practice the virtues of the MOUNTAIN

Steadiness and relaxation

Perseverance and improvement

Making life beautified.

Vow to practice the virtues of the RIVER

Coolly watering the fields

For blooming and fruiting

Helping life be free.

Vow to practice the virtues of the SEA

Equality and immense

The enlightened and altruistic Person

Can bring peaceful joy to all beings.

Vow to practice the virtues of SPRING

Gladness and coolness

The body and mind are healthy

Vitality is always full.

Vow to practice the virtues of the SUMMER

Nurturing love and compassion

Building the heart of enthusiasm

Warming up love of homeland.

Vow to practice the virtues of the FALL

Efforts to try elaborately

In the mature stage

Escaping from the stagnant pond.

Vow to practice the virtues of the WINTER

Being conscious of laziness

Encouraging them in cultivation

Practitioners always feel at ease.
