THE GRAND KATHINA ROBE OFFERING CEREMONY AT THE SRI LANKA BUĐHIST TEMPLE IN SOUTH AUSTIN, TEXAS

Today, during the Kathina robe-offering season, the Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple in South Austin, Texas, held this grand ceremony to welcome Buddhist devotees from near and far to participate in acts of generosity, offering, and support for the Triple Gem.
Upon receiving the invitation from Bhante Gnanarata and Bhante Sirnanda, Senior Venerable Trừng Sỹ was fortunate to attend this Kathina ceremony, which was truly joyful and meaningful.
This is the best occasion for Buddhists to come to the Temple, offer Kathina robes, support the Sangha, and cultivate merit for themselves and for others in their present lives.
May the Buddha Dharma endure, may the world be peaceful, families happy, and all beings at ease.
On this occasion, we respectfully dedicate a few words of reflection through the poem “Offering Merit at Kathina” as follows.

OFFERING MERIT AT KATHINA POEM

The Kathina festival comes once more,
Buddhist hearts gather from near and far.
Offering robes of merit today,
To the Sangha we bow, in pure trust and grace.

.
With the four offerings we give,
Nurturing virtue, wondrous to live.
Together we rely on the Triple Gem,
The Sangha stands firm, Dharma shines within them.

.
Spiritual practice is the precious gift,
Blessings flow, giving homes peace and cheer.
From family and friends to all near and far,
One heart turns to the Buddha, joy like a star.
