The Invitation Letter of TẾT of the Buffalo Year –2021
To Monastics, lay Buddhists, and everyone,
The Maitreya Buddha’s Spring poem states:
“On New Year’s new day, Maitreya was born
with his much good virtue and peaceful mind,
we who respectfully pay homage to him,
pray peace for all over living beings.”
Indeed, on the early days of the New Year, according to Vietnamese tradition and culture, Tet is a good opportunity for everyone to come to the Buddhist Temples at the beginning of the year to sow, create merit, cultivate spiritual lives, and pray peace and happiness for their families and society.
This year, because the pandemic spreads around the world, the activities of the Dharma and the community in different places are limited. However, to remember the Vietnamese national cultural roots the programs to celebrate the New Year of the Buffalo 2021 at Phap Nhan Temple will be held as follows.
On Thursday, 30th lunar Day, February 11th, 2021
5:00 p.m. Repentant Ceremony
6:00 p.m. Ceremony of Welcoming the Happy Lunar New Year’s Eve, wishing Tết for you, granting a New Year’s lucky gift to you each.
On Friday, the First lunar Day, February 12th, 2021
10:00 a.m. Ceremony of Celebrating Maitreya Buddha Spring and Dharma talk
On Saturday, the Second lunar Day, February 13th, 2021
10:00 a.m. Ceremony of New Year Prayers and Dharma talks
On Sunday, the Third lunar Day, February 14th, 2021
10:00 a.m. Chanting Maha Mangala Sutta and Dharma talk
On Sunday, February 28th, 2021
10:00 a.m. Offerings to the Full Moon Day of Lunar January and Ceremony of being the Buddha’s Children.[1]
On the occasion of the new year, we wish you and your loved ones full of health, peace, joy, and happiness.
Tết arrives, all people rejoice in the Buddha –dharma
Spring comes, all places fill with peace – joy.
