Dear Most Venerable Elders, Venerable Monks and Nuns,
Dear community members and Buddhist devotees near and far,
The fragrance of flowers,
does not travel against the wind;
but the virtue of a righteous person
spreads far and wide, against the wind.
Only a truly noble One,
can shine brightly in all directions.
(Dhammapada 54)
Whether in a village or in a deep forest,
Whether in a valley or on a high hill,
Wherever Arahants dwell,
That place is truly delightful.
(Dhammapada 98)
Time has swiftly passed, and it has now been forty-nine days since the passing of the Late Most Venerable Thích Pháp Quang. The monastics and lay devotees of the Austin Buddhist Community and surrounding areas respectfully hold the Forty-Ninth-Day Memorial Service to honor and express gratitude for his teachings and to pray that his Blessed Spirit may peacefully ascend to the Buddha’s Realm.
On the occasion of the Forty-Ninth-Day Memorial Service, we respectfully invite the Venerable Sangha to grace the ceremony with their presence and prayers, and we warmly invite all lay Buddhist devotees to attend.
PROGRAM OF THE 49TH-DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE
Wednesday, March 4, 2026
8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Preparation and decoration of the Dharma Hall
10:30 AM: Midday offering and prayers to the Late Most Venerable’s Enlightened Spirit
11:30 AM: Monastic mindfulness meal offering
1:30 PM: Offering of food to the hungry ghosts.
Thursday, March 5, 2026
9:00 AM: Welcoming the Venerable Sangha and Buddhist devotees
10:00 AM: Midday offering and prayers
11:00 AM: Formal offering of requisites to the Sangha.
COMPLETION OF THE CEREMONY
