Invitation to Attend the 2650th Vesak Celebration (B.E. 2570)

Dear Most Venerable and Venerable Monks and Nuns,
Dear fellow Buddhist devotees,
When the Buddha appeared in this world so fair,
He spread the True Dharma, shining everywhere.
The Fourfold Assembly now stands here today,
Together we practice, bringing peace to all ways.
Joyful is the Buddha’s birth today,
Joyful shines the True Dharma’s radiant ray.
Joyful the harmonious Sangha, a field of endless merit,
Joyful the Fourfold Assembly, together we inherit. (Dhammapada 194)
Every year, when Vesak (Buddha’s Birthday) is celebrated worldwide, whether we are Buddhists or not, workers, educators, or officials, at temples or in workplaces, we share a common aspiration: to come together to practice the Buddha’s teachings and reflect on the life of Shakyamuni Buddha, so that we may live in peace, joy, and true happiness here and now.
To enhance the solemnity of this year’s Vesak celebration, we sincerely invite the Venerable Sangha and respectfully ask our fellow lay Buddhists to graciously take some of their precious time to join us at Pháp Nhãn Temple for this important event. The presence and blessings of the Venerable Sangha will bring great merit and encouragement to our temple community. We offer our heartfelt respect and deep gratitude to all.

09:30 am: Warmly welcome all attendees
10:00 am: Vesak Ceremony
10:20 am: Reading the Vesak Message
10:40 am: Dharma Talks on the Significance of Vesak
11:20 am: Chanting of the Vesak Sutra and Buddha Bathing Ceremony
12:00 pm: Offering to the Sangha and cordial lunch
01:00 pm: Song Performances in Celebration of Vesak
02:00 pm: Ceremony of Taking Refuge and Transmission of the Five Precepts *
03:00 pm: Closing
