INVITATION TO THE VU LAN FESTIVAL
PHÁP NHÃN BUDDHIST TEMPLE
Sunday, September 27, 2026
Thư mời tham dự Đại Lễ Vu Lan, Chùa Pháp Nhãn, 27 tháng 9 năm 2026
Revered Venerable Monastics,
Dear Dharma friends and Buddhist devotees,
“Each year when the seventh full moon shines bright,
Filial children bow in prayerful light;
Praying their parents long life be blessed,
And family bonds be filled with peace and harmony.”
Indeed, according to Vietnamese Buddhist tradition, whenever the Vu Lan Festival returns, Buddhist disciples—wherever they may be—arrange time to return to temples to pay homage to the Buddha, study the Dharma, listen to Dharma talks, recite sutras, and participate in the Great Vu Lan Festival of Filial Gratitude.
Vu Lan is a sacred Buddhist festival of filial gratitude, carrying profound spiritual significance.
First, pray that our parents who are presently alive may be blessed with increasing merit, blessings, and longevity.
Second, we pray that our deceased parents and relatives may hear the chanting of sutras and mantras and be reborn in peaceful and wholesome realms.
Third, we aspire to diligently study and practice the Buddha’s teachings and to support and uphold the Triple Gem during the Vassa (Rains Retreat) and the Kathina robe-offering season.
Fourth, we pray that ourselves and our families may always be blessed with good health, peace, joy, and happiness.
Fifth, we pray for world peace and for the happiness and well-being of all sentient beings.
Through studying, practicing, and applying the Dharma in daily life, we can transform suffering and realize peace and happiness in the present life.
