The Most Venerable Thero Thích Phước Sơn

According to Texas time, at 14:59 on June 6, 2020, from the United States, we heard that the Most Venerable Thero Thích Phước Sơn passed away at Van Hanh Monastery, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
We remember the Thero is the pedagogical Master teaching about Buddhist Precepts very vividly and easily to understand. We would like to be deeply grateful to the Thero for your dedication to the life of education and the training of talented and virtuous people.
As Monks and Nuns of the Fourth Course and Courses having spread the Dharma in the United States, we would like to wholeheartedly pray for the Thero’s Enlightened Soul gently going to the Buddha’s realm, soon returning to this world to continue the career of education and teaching of human beings.
We would like to wish all Monastics, lay Buddhists, Preceptors, fellow students, and fellow practitioners at Vạn Hạnh Buddhist Monastery as well as Vietnam Buddhist University so much health to take care of the Thero’s funeral thoughtfully.

Poem of The Most Venerable Master Thích Phước Sơn’s Gratitude
Previously, I learnt the old school
I still saw Thầy living at the Monastery of
Vạn Hạnh that has saved the footprints of multiple Dharma Masters
Thầy always taught the Buddhist Precepts every day.
We always memorize Thầy’s gratitude
Even though the years have passed,
The Most Venerable Thero often gives advice
Buddhist rules are the daily practice of Monastics.
Thầy’s virtue is forever here
We always insist on his words
The Buddhist laws we practice and apply
To benefit people in this world.
Today, Thầy has enough conditions to go to the Pure Land
We have spread the Dharma in America
May the Thero be born highly up to the Buddha’s land
The serenely Enlightened Soul is as light as clouds.
